Mule Day By The Bay!!!
Mule racing makes its long anticipated return to Bay Meadows this Wednesday August 23rd for a one day extravaganza featuring two quality races including the $9,000 Straight From The Gate Stakes for Three Year Olds.
At 7/5, Out Of My League trained by Candice Coffee and ridden by Anthony “Hollywood” Ayala will look to keep his strangle hold on the three year old division in the The Straight From The Gate, however, contenders Bar JF Hot Ticket and super clone Idaho Gem have by no means given up the chase. The Straight From The Gate will be the second race the card with post time at 2:16 PM.
Leading of the day at Bay Meadows will be the race informally known as the “Lets Give Someone Else A Chance Stakes” which sports the unique condition of being open to all mules who have not won a Sweep Stakes in 2005-2006 thus leaving the winners circle open to a mule other the Smoking Joe or Sarah Nelson. Although Smoking Joe and Sarah Nelson will be missed by the fans this race will offer excellent betting opportunities with up and comer Bar JF Geneo being the favorite at 8-5. Additionally, this race will also serve as a well deserved reward for the many mules and connections that have done their best to keep up with Joe and Sarah all year long.
Sacramento Blues…
Despite the continued outpouring of fan disappointment and the echo of empty grandstands The California State Fair at Sacramento will once again put California Fair Racing out to pasture as they continue what has now been mysteriously extended to the second year of a “three year experiment” with harness racing. So it is with a heavy heart that we must bid our fans farewell until the much anticipated start of The Los Angeles County Fair at Fairplex on September 8th -- L.A. HERE WE COME!!!!
