MULE RACES AT THE RED BLUFF ROUNDUP

Red Bluff, California – It wasn't Churchill Downs or Santa Anita but horse and mule racing at the Red Bluff Roundup in Red Bluff, California had the same thrills and excitement as the big tracks.

April 14 through 16 the mules were running! Each day two mule races were run for the crowd at one of the biggest annual events in the Northern California tow. The "pro" race every day had some of the top mules from the Summer Fair Circuit. On Saturday the incomparable Black Ruby raced to her first victory of the new millennium.

Second in the race was Jelly Bean, followed by Scooter. Sunday winners were out. The race finished Fancy, Scooter then Jelly Bean. Healdsburg residents, Sonny and Mary McPherson definitely carried the meet as the owners of three of the four top pro mules.

Next stop on the circuit is June 3 and 4 in Winnemucca, Nevada.
