CAL BRED SIRE EARNINGS

ELIGIBILITY:

1) Sire breeding or sire semen/artificial insemination shall occur in California.  Eligible would be California semen shipped out of state and mare returned to California to foal.

2) Progeny race results shall be considered from Cal Bred registered mules only.

            3) Birth of progeny utilized for race results shall occur in California.

4) Ineligible would be babies born from semen shipped from California to mares outside of California or mares domiciled in California bred by semen from a stud outside of California.

5) Only pari-mutuel races run in California will count toward eligibility.

REGISTRATION: 
Jack or stallion sires shall be registered by AMRA members for $25.00; $50.00 for non-members.  Cal Bred earnings would not start to accrue until registration fee is received by the AMRA office.  Registration fees shall be paid to:

OWNER:
Defined as the person who is the owner or lessee of the eligible jack or stallion sire as of December 31 of the calendar year in which that sire’s foals had eligible earnings or the person who owned the eligible jack or stallion sire on the date that the sire died.  Owner or lessee of eligible jack or stallion must be an AMRA voting member in good standing in order to receive earnings.


EARNINGS:  Money will be paid to Cal Bred sires for their Cal Bred offspring placing first through third ($100.00 to first, $75.00 to second, $50.00 to third).  The races do not have to be Cal Bred races. California law requires all owners of jacks or stallions that are eligible for Cal Bred earnings to notify the State Registry (AMRA) prior to February 1 of the year following the year in which the money is earned that they are eligible for earnings.

DNA  IDENTIFICATION:  To be eligible for Cal Bred sire earnings, all jacks must first be DNA tested and parentage verified by the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory of the University of California, Davis.  Hair kits are available through the AMRA office.  A copy of the jack’s registration papers must also be provided.
