Momentum!!!
Mule racing continues to ride the tidal wave of excitement generated last week at Ferndale by the return of the great Black Ruby as well as the intriguing winner take all match race between Smoking Joe and Sarah Nelson. Congratulations to Black Ruby for an outstanding second place finish against a razor sharp field in her comeback and also kudos to Sarah Nelson for her great victory in the much anticipated $10,000 match race.
After taking a day off on Tuesday the fun continues to roll this week with a rematch of Sarah Nelson and Smoking Joe in the second race on Wednesday. This time Joe and Sarah will slug it out at 220 yards where Joe will try and use his quickness to overcome Sarah’s recent blazing form.
Additionally, world famous cloned mule Idaho Gem returns to action in the second race on Thursday looking to get back to the winners circle.
Welcome Back Flip!!!
Mule racing enthusiasts around the world will rejoice at the return of 2005 American Mule Racing Association Iron Man Jockey of the Year Flip Nollar to the California Fair Circuit. Always a fan favorite Flip will surely add to the growing colony of talented and daring riders that make our sport go.
Spreading The Wealth!!!
Speaking of the talented jockey colony….An analysis of the 12 races last week showed that eight different riders were able to pilot their way first to the wire and have their picture taken. With such skill and parody among riders, trainers, and mules wagering has never been more profitable with the average exacta payout coming in at 18-1 last week. Additionally, with the wealth of Mule Racing at Ferndale be sure to look for Pick 3 and Daily Double opportunities featuring our long eared friends. Remember…the two Pick3’s featuring mules last week offered an average payback of 37-1!!!
